Fredon 6th Graders study Cartography

The sixth graders at Fredon Township School recently studied map projections in Ashley Martin's social studies class. Using an orange as a model of the Earth, the students had to draw and label the continents. They then explored the difficulties of cartography when they cut the peel into slices to create a flat map of the world.  The students learned that there are many distortions on the maps we use every day.
